FINANCIAL
CRISIS REFLECTED FOR DEVELOPMENT.
UNPAID JOB AND NO ACCESS TO JUSTICE
The
worst economic and financial crisis for many decades addressed traumatic
experience of a sharp rise in unemployment, high interest rates and mounting
budget deficits. People have received very little benefits from the strong
economic performance.
A national study finds that poverty results largely from
considerable inequities in people’s access to services and entitlements such as
economic assets, political and social right, municipal services.
Rising expenses continue to hurt middle class and poor.
Limited opportunities to lift them out of the vicious cycle of poverty such as
living in a clean, safe environment, having access to nutrition and healthcare,
being able to get a gob with decent salary or
start business and earn a decent income. Economic discrimination,
manifested in ownership and access to land, making markets unfair,
unpredictable and unfeasible for middle class.
Economic crisis disproportionately affecting Women and Youth, who are facing challenges to
access Justice and to protect essential livelihood rights such property, labor
and business. Women continue earn less than man for work of equal value; they
are over-represented in the informal economy and in LOWPAYING UNSKILLED JOBS.
Women are still under-represented in most leadership positions. Exploitation is
hidden from public view.
Women, affected by the family conflict, have experienced
repeated displacement; loss of productive income and assets, the challenge of
living in an environment of insecurity and mistrust. Bureaucratic and
corruption left behind in terms of access to justice; the negative result of barriers to justice; the expense of pursing cases in courts, the
intimidating structure of the legal profession and the courts
Professional Immigrants are experience harassment and exploitation in
housing and the workplace (unpaid job). The expense of pursing cases in courts,
the intimidating structure of the legal profession, bureaucratic and corruption
left behind in terms of access to Justice to effectively benefit from the rule
of Law.
Research component is envisaged to bridge the gap between
policy and implementation. Respond to
the challenges of the economic crisis could be
focus on education and economic
opportunities.
Promote legal and market information about landowners
rights. Inform rights-owners of options either of the title with profit, such
as different types of contractual clauses on lease market, types of lease
agreements. Non-discrimination inheritance and marriage rights to increase the economic empowerment of woman
and youth, settle disagreements between landlords and tenants, etc. Promote administrative justice,
accountability, improving the quality of public service delivery.
Facilitation of
public monitoring and citizen participation in decision-making process
through information campaigns, outreach and advocacy. Involve Media to promote
access to justice.
Create network of
practitioners and Media to provide reports, references and links to projects,
where best practices are applied.
