Endorsement for UN Secretary General (New Elected)
To: Representatives of All United Nations Permanent Member
States
The World Coalition of Refugee Rights (WCRR) is an
Inter-Governmental Organization (IGO) implementing United Nations mandates
for consular support of refugees (UN Status of Refugees, Articles 26-28; UN
Human Rights, Articles 6, 9), reunification of families (UN Human Rights,
Article 16.3; UN Rights of the Child, Article 22.2), protecting human rights
(UN Right to Protect, Article 5; UN Human Rights, Article 22), and access to
justice (UN Refugees, Articles 16, 32.2). Its official consular powers and
authorities for refugees are fully binding upon all countries (UN Refugees,
Articles 12.1, 25.1, 25.3), even non-signatory countries (UN Law of Treaties,
Article 38).
Antonio Guterres from Portugal who just got
the approval of the Security Council to be the next Secretary General of
United Nations now tomorrow is the formal vote of the all 193 Members.
António Guterres, then the
United Nations high commissioner for refugees, in 2014. Mr. Guterres won a straw poll to become the next secretary general.
In connection with tomorrow’s vote by the UN General
Assembly for election of the next Secretary General of the United Nations, it
is an honour to express my active support, and highest recommendation, of His Excellency António Guterres, former Prime Minister of Portugal.
António Guterres had meritoriously earned my unconditional
support during his service as the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. It is
now greatly encouraging, and highly inspirational, that today in the Security
Council, he has risen to become the “clear favorite”, overcoming
unprecedented geopolitical divisions, mobilizing broad-spectrum unity, and
giving great hope for new avenues of humanitarian cooperation.
I am pleased to make this endorsement on behalf of the World
Coalition of Refugee Rights (WCRR), together with its IGO Member
Institutions, Ignita Veritas University (IVU) and the Sovereign Court of
International Justice (SCIJ), and backed by its Member States, the Sovereign
Magistral Order of the Temple of Solomon and the Ancient Catholic Church.
